Lenses
Spectacle lenses are used to enhance visual function in different ways.
Compensatory lenses restore clear sight and are used for people who are shortsighted, astigmatic, or very longsighted.
Support lenses are generally used from 18 months to 2 years to help balance the focussing and pointing systems of the eyes.
Training lenses are used as part of a Vision Therapy program to help the eyes to learn to function more efficiently.
Yoked prism is a form of lens used to alter perception of space. these can be used to enhance attention and/or to enhance awareness of peripheral visual information.
Contact lenses are usually prescribed as compensatory lenses. They are available in a range of materials, designs and colours:
- Hard
- Soft
- Frequent replacement
- Multifocal
