Behavioural Optometry

As Behavioural Optometrists we look to the future of vision care. We involve you as an active participant in the prevention of eye problems and the maintenance of maximum eye health and visual fitness.

Behavioural Optometry is a philosophy of eycare that assesses eye health, clarity of sight, and efficiency of vision.

VISION vs SIGHT

Being able to read the bottom line of an eye chart means that you have clear SIGHT. Being able to easily understand what you are looking at means that you have good VISION.

Is it possible to see clearly but still have an eye problem?

Yes. To see efficiently, you need to see clearly at all distances, as well as change focus quickly and easily. You also need to be able to maintain clear, comfortable focus for as long as you want to.

It is also possible to be able to see clearly both in the distance and at near, but at the same time have symptoms of headache, sore eyes, blurred vision, and poor concentration, because your eyes cannot change, or maintain focus, automatically.

Poor comprehension can occur if you can see clearly, but cannot integrate visual information easily with what you hear and feel.

On a very different level, it is also possible to see clearly, but have sight threatening changes occurring in your side vision.
